Status and Mission of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz as a Public Institution

The Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz is part of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, a cultural authority funded by the Federal Government and all German federal states, operating in the legal form of a public-law foundation. In its capacity as a provider of public services, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin functions as a state institution dedicated to the provision of literature.

 

Handling of Forms from International Customers

We wish to point out that we will only accept and validate forms submitted by international customers of the Staatsbibliothek—specifically those based on the customers' respective national legal regulations—if such forms are submitted in a pre-filled state.

These forms typically involve, among other things, the confirmation of compliance with national regulations regarding tax law or policies concerning crime, corruption, or other prohibited activities. The Staatsbibliothek is under no obligation to process such forms and, for reasons of administrative efficiency, will not undertake the task of filling them out. Furthermore, the Staatsbibliothek will not participate in providing customer-requested confirmations regarding the identity of a "Legal Representative" or the individual completing the form, nor will it provide digital copies of identification documents.

 

Processing of Payments with the Staatsbibliothek

As a precautionary and alternative measure, the Staatsbibliothek hereby declares that the bank account specified for the settlement of our invoices belongs to the Staatsbibliothek, and that both the invoicing process and the administrative handling of the services underlying said invoices are carried out exclusively by the staff of the Staatsbibliothek.

Payments via Advance Payment

Payments made in advance are credited directly to the account of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. For organizational reasons, the advance payment option is available only to institutions located within Germany.

The invoice amount must be transferred to the account specified on the invoice within 10 days. Downloads and/or shipments can only be processed once payment has been received. To ensure prompt processing, we kindly request that you include the invoice number when making your payment.

 

Payments via Credit Card and Bank Transfer / Collaboration with the Service Provider "Mollie"

To avoid any potential confusion, we wish to inform you in advance that credit card payments and bank transfers from our customers are received by an external service provider named "Mollie" into their own accounts. This service provider subsequently transfers the funds received to the account of the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. — From our customers' perspective, therefore, payments made via bank transfer or credit card are initially directed to the payment service provider "Mollie" and only subsequently forwarded from there to the Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz. Both procedures—advance payment as well as bank transfer and credit card payment—are proper, correct, proven, and secure. "Mollie" also handles credit card verification on our behalf.

We accept Visa and MasterCard. To ensure secure transactions, we support "Verified by Visa" and "MasterCard SecureCode." You will receive a payment request from "Mollie," allowing you to complete the transaction via a standard bank transfer. Shipment will take place once payment has been received (typically within 1–2 days).
